Lion Ferdinand Neilson leads in song while his daughter Louise accompanies on the piano. With a spirit of love and service, this great duo contributes at every Washington Lions Christmas social. Their contribution always brings happy smiles to the members faces. Something that we could all use more of in our lives.
Lion Ferdinand Neilson, who is a twin, turned 76 last July fourth and spent it with the Lions serving up the best “supervised” and delicious pancakes in Washington County. The best and most unique element of this story is his family. While Ferdinand has been providing this service for the past 46 years, his children have been at his side to help stir the batter, cook the eggs, attend the ham or sausage, and see to it that it’s done to Ferdinand's high standard for many of those years. What a beautiful sight to see this family sacrifice to be together and help their Dad.
Ferdinand’s lovely wife Darlene, passed away last year to that dreaded disease Alzheimer’s. Ferdinand and his kin continue to serve and are loved and appreciated. We can all learn from them.
