HARMONS AND UTAH LIONS CLUBS FOCUS EFFORT ON SAVING EYESIGHT
"This breakfast is a fun family get-together", Bob Harmon, of Harmons stores said, "It is a great project for a great cause". This is the ninth year for the event with Harmons donating all the food at six locations along the Wasatch Front and 15 Lions clubs participating on the same day. All proceeds will be donated the Utah Lions Foundation that will pay for cornea transplants, research and eye treatment. According to the Utah Lions Eye Bank they distribute more than 400 tissue donations for cornea transplants each year, and there are more than 100 people waiting for eye transplants at any given time. The Utah Lions clubs also conduct local projects of eye screening, eyeglasses for the needy, and Diabetes, organ and tissue donation awareness. A new project, The Utah Lions Eye Initiative, that involves cataract surgeries, will be conducted through the cooperation of the Moran Eye Center. Lions clubs also buy eyeglasses for the needy and recycle used eyeglasses for use worldwide.
