100% LION

The following 100% Lion Recognition was an innovation by a Lions Club as a substitute for the Perfect Attendance criteria as established by Lions Clubs International. A modified form of the requirements has been adopted by many clubs and several districts within and outside the U.S. The Lions Clubs meets weekly from September thru May which equals 36 yearly meetings; the club’s Board of Directors meets once monthly the entire year. If the 100% Lion model detailed below should be adopted then adjustments based upon meetings, etc., should be made.

IN ORDER TO BE RECOGNIZED AS A 100% LIONS IN THE ________________

LIONS CLUB, A LION MUST ACHIEVE 36 POINTS EACH YEAR WHICH CAN BE ACCUMULATED IN THE FOLLOWING COMBINATIONS:

[1] Attendance at each meeting 1 point per meeting

[2] Attendance at a board meeting 1 point per meeting

[3] Working on/at a service project 2 points per day worked

[4] Working on/at a fund raiser 2 points per day worked

[5] Attending another club meeting/function 2 points per attendance*

[6] Attendance at a MD or District function 3 points for attendance*

[7] Attending a USA/Canada Forum 3 points for attendance*

[8] Attending a Lions Leadership Institute 3 points for attendance*

[9] Attending a Lions International Convention 3 points for attendance**

[10] Sponsoring a new member 2 points per member

*Documentation of attendance at all functions must be received.

**Proof of attendance must be provided as well as proof of voting if a delegate. A report on the Forum or Convention must also be given to the membership.

Time is the central focus of the system. It takes one’s time to participate in any of the activities for which points can be accumulated. The system recognizes in today’s world one has many obligations that may preclude being able to attend every meeting yet there are other time recognized criteria that permits one to become a 100% Lion. At the same time it allows that who are able to attend every meeting to achieve 100% attendance. The clubs that use the system feels it is fairer and truly recognizes Lions who make a time commitment. Yes, it has increased participation at functions other than just meetings with no discernible drop in attendance at meetings; and, yes, younger members have joined. Give it a try – what do you have to lose???
